I honestly don’t know how you do it. I was once considering volunteering in a headstart or similar in retirement. But no more. Stay strong. You’re doing great work.

“ But I am qualified to be a steady presence.” you may not realize it, but you may be the steadiest presence in their entire life.

I am sorry you didn't get the job. Their loss.

If it's eating you up that much, then maybe it's better you didn't get the job.

Absolutely. Dodged a bullet.

Back when I was unemployed, I applied for a job that looked like it was made for me (did I write about this before?). I didn't get it, but later got another one (same institution) which worked out well. The med. ctr's switch to a new computer system would have been the death of me in the job I didn't get; the job I got, being a research job, had it's own computer system, easier to navigate. I was never fully fluent, but my co-workers were willing to help.
