Thankful for you
Worldwide family and community
Happy eve of Thanksgiving Eve, worldwide family. Everyone is saying, “Are you ready for the holiday?” and I want to ask, “If I’m not, would that move it?” But yes, I am ready for the holiday. Every year until now for almost my entire life, I spent it with my father and his family. Now that he is gone, while I am still close to them, I am spending it with my mom. And we are going OUT! to our favorite restaurant, Seasons 52.
As those of you who were with me this time last year know, the last time I saw my Dad before he passed away was last Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful time. He was still completely coherent, and I spent the weekend with them. He died on December 21.
Dad had a wonderful life and as good a death as one could have. I’m grateful for the time I spent with him both in person and on the phone before his death.
I’m very grateful to still have my mom. We are close and I’m glad we will get to spend this time together. I’ll also be cooking a bizarre post-Thanksgiving dinner for my good friend Ken, Executive Director of HAMS (Harm Reduction, Abstinence and Moderation Support.) He wants: beef stroganoff and Stovetop stuffing. Easy for me! I made a beef stroganoff with ingredients largely from the dollar store (noodles, beef from the farmers’ market, and Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom soup) so that’s both cheap and easy.
I’m so grateful for all of you - old friends, new friends, friends from the Jewish and Zionist community, friends who I don’t even know how you found me! I feel like we know each other, even if we don’t.
Thank you for reading. I wish you and your family (especially any cats or dogs) a blessed holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone at your end!
I am extremely thankful for you and people like you! I am from the Jewish Zionist component of your fan club, and interacting with non Jews who support Israel is a life saver for me. I go to work every day and I wonder which of my coworkers would cheer if my family were massacred. I wonder every day whether I’m not a fool for not leaving NYC, where one million people have at best decided it’s ok to vote in a Jew hater for mayor and at worst voted for him BECAUSE he’s a Jew hater. I also enjoy your non Israel related content. I hope it isn’t terribly un American of me to have no plans for Thanksgiving. You see, there are a million and one Jewish holidays where I have to cook, serve and clear the table for days on end. Just can’t do it again. Hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving!
