I am actually pretty good friends with teh Chabad rabbi and his wife at UPenn. They have been so kind to me! They invite me to lots of events but some of their events are just for the UPenn family. I definitely get along with them politically and they are just lovely people. I'm not Orthodox Jewish though or Jewish at all so there are some things that it doesn't really make sense for me to be invited to.
Wishing you a Zeisen Pesach whether you celebrate it as a Jew or not. Don't feel bad about not being politically aligned with the Reform temple you attended. I am not politically aligned with the Reform temple to which I belong, nor much with the Reform movement, but have some good friends at the temple despite our political differences, which center mostly around Trump and my strong pro 2nd Amendment stance. Also wishing you a Happy Easter.
If you are concerned about tired leftism in your synagogue< I would suggest you try Chabad. Worked for me. Happy Passover.
