Ma'am I am tonight

Iran will not have a nuclear bomb.

One of my favorite songs is “Walking in Memphis” by Marc Cohn. In it’s “hook” section, the lyrics go:

Do a little number, and I sang with all my might

and I said, “Ma’am I am tonight!”

After decades of Iranian terrorism, 623 days of war against Iranian proxies since Hamas massacred Israelis, Americans, and many others on October 7, 2023, and American administration after American administration catering to Iran, finally an American president does what needs to be done.

Here come the freak outs from Left and Right. The truly bizarre Lefties defending the Iranian regime that kills women for showing their hair will be out in full force. Those who hate Prime Minister Netanyahu and/or President Trump will say that the nuclear threat was made up. Blah, blah blah.

These people would have fed us to the forces of barbarism. The radicalized, political version of Islam of terrorists (not nice Muslim people who go to work and school and practice their religion in peace) is going to lose. The Iron Dome could not have held up forever, and Iran was counting on wearing Israel down. Every night my friends and our worldwide family have been hiding in bomb shelters and not able to sleep. Their windows have been blown out, they have lost loved ones, their homes destroyed, and now it’s getting closer to over. Soon the nightmare will be over.

Even as a a not-born-a-Jew, I’m getting used to expecting the landslide of antisemitic memes and graffiti and social media posts. Israel doesn’t care, Trump doesn’t care, and I’m going to go on about my business, wearing my Star of David.

Tonight I’m proud to be an American, proud to be a Zionist and proud to be if not yet Jewish, at least accepted as a good friend.

Maybe I can finally sleep. I pray that soon my Israeli friends can have night after night of uninterrupted sleep.

Maybe I’m not a Christian tonight, but I am an American Zionist. And my heart is with Israel.
