Israeli Tarantulas?
Apparently there are!
Since two of my favorite things are tarantulas and Israel, I decided to look up Israeli tarantulas. This guy is beautiful
.
I haven’t written much on the Zionist front lately, not because I care any less but a) lots of people write more insightful things than I could b) I’m had my mind focused on the city where I live. But that doesn’t mean that I support my Israeli and Jewish family worldwide any less.
I fear for my Jewish friends. Sometimes for myself though no one has come after met yet. I’m pretty insignificant and I’m good with that.
Since I look about at Jewish as our friend the tarantula, people say things around me that I wish they would not. I was chatting with an acquaintance the other day and mentioned that I make an Israeli salad. In this neighborhood, it’s just assumed that most people, especially the young, think they hate Israel. She expressed shock that I would make something Israeli. I just said what I always say, “ I have more friends in Israel than around here.”
I try to challenge people on their Jew hatred comments in a way that might get them to think. Maybe this is just not possible but I try to believe the good. Most Israelis criticize the Israeli government… and they all have families and eat salad and are real people. My Jewish friends worldwide have been so incredibly kind, including listening to me cry on the phone when I’m having a tough time. Thank you. You know who you are.
And thank you all for putting up with a blog that is becoming about large fuzzy spiders.

I’m deeply grateful for your efforts. It’s hard to speak up when you hear anti Jewish bigotry and it’s a brave thing that you do. I’m recognizably Jewish by my dress (Orthodox sort of yeshivish) and people at work still occasionally say mildly anti Jewish things to me. And these are people who I don’t really think of as full blown antisemitic, just ignorant.
Yes, he is cool looking, as far as tarantulas go. But do they have Banana Spiders up around Tyveria (Tiberias) ) 9n the banana orchards? Keep speaking up and out, we have to educate all of the ones who really do not know,
