As a ‘graduate’ of American public schools and a parent of 2 who did same, I want the students to learn about American history (both good and bad) - the government structure and the founding documents which changed the world. If that’s ‘indoctrination’ I am all for it.
I hope they do - somewhere. In the schools where I've taught they learn about slavery and little else. The kids I taught were shocked to learn that white people did not invent slavery! In fact, they were shocked to see a long documentary I showed them, PBS I think, that showed how black Africans were selling each other into slavery long before white people got in on the game. If parents are involved in public school and have a say in what is being taught - great. Usually that is not the case.
I wonder how they would feel to learn exactly where the word “slave” came from. That’s right! Slavic people, what we would consider white peoples today, were bought and sold a slaves by brown (Arabic) people.
It’s quite shocking to me that every other ethnic group in the world other than white peoples and Jews are allowed to have downright supremacist views in elite society. Nobody seems to care about the colonialist nature of Arabic culture or any other non white culture. It’s almost as if the issue is not about colonialism at all, but simply one of race and ethnicity. White = bad, Jew = bad Western culture= bad and everyone else= good.

And don't forget, Jews are 'white colonialists' except to white nationalists for whom we're not white.
