Appeal from Sahar Tartak, Yale student
The one who was stabbed in the eye with a Palestinian flag at the encampment last year
Hey friends…
I just got this from Sahar Tartak, and I donated a little bit to support her and other Jewish students. She wrote this at Tablet and this in The Free Press about her experience when she was stabbed in the eye.
Her mother grew up in Iran, where she had rocks thrown at her because she was a Jew. It must be horrifying to see violence against her daughter and other Jews at a place that is supposed to symbolize the best of America, where they hoped they would be safe.
Please consider sharing with Yale alumni or anyone else who might want to help.
Here is her letter:
Dear friend,
Happy Hannukkah! This is Sahar. Last year, you generously donated to Chabad at Yale to fight antisemitism and support Jewish life on campus. I'm reaching out to ask if we can continue to work together in this fight.
Chabad has become home for me and many other Jewish students since October 7, the sole beacon of light in the darkness of our campus. Rabbi and Rebbetzin Posner cared for me after I was assaulted at the encampment last semester, and Chabad has hosted events such as commemorative singing on October 7, a Persian Shabbat dinner attended by over 300 students, a speaker series with Jewish Yale Professors, and served as the headquarters for students fighting a BDS campaign this year.
In short, I don't know what Jews would do at Yale without Chabad, but we can't do it alone. Your generosity last year made a huge difference — my campaign raised $10,000. This year, I'm hoping to raise $20,000. Can you help me keep it up this coming year with a donation? Here's the link:

Feel free to reach out with questions, and enjoy your break!
